Bruce@161.114.88.75 (05/21/2001 16:11:04):
Egads... couldn't they just leave out a few saucers of milk or something??
48states@128.218.87.114 (05/21/2001 19:27:14):
Could you please ask the kitties to save me a buffalo wing?
MichaelJ@66.31.49.70 (05/21/2001 23:26:05):
Can I get fries with that? - Lioness at the kill. Young male lion in the background.
- "Good kill, eh?" "Oh yeah, sure gives you a thirst".
Kat@204.167.112.129 (05/22/2001 11:51:06):
Wow, this is so cool. And I really appreciate your letting us participate via the web!
Nana@24.240.90.223 (05/22/2001 16:34:11):
I am so happy to be travelling with such a good crew!!! Love, Nana - Giraffe. Really tall.
- This is as much of a hippo as we saw until Thursday, when we finally saw one out of the water.
- We stopped each evening around sunset for "sundowners," a very civilized end to the day.
- Here's what a buffalo looks like before the lions get to it.
- Here's all that was left of that buffalo last night, with a couple hyenas working on it.
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/23/2001 16:47:08):
cool! How many drives a day do you go on???
Chris Tatro@63.27.152.229 (05/23/2001 19:02:34):

We are enjoying your daily reports! FYI:
GIRAFFE,Giraffa camelopardalis, Family Giraffidae Color brown to rich chestnut (old males darker, even black), dissected into intricate tapestry by patches and blotches of lighter hair, pattern unique in each giraffe.
- Female hippo, with just the ears of her baby visible.
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/23/2001 16:53:54):
Okay, all together now............ooooohhhhhh how cute! - Tawny eagles. A few moments later, they mated. (Sorry, I was too busy observing to snap a photo.)
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/23/2001 16:53:02):
This one of course is Wen's favorite!!!! - Impala. We saw hundreds of impala.
- Wildebeast & a couple implala. i.e. lunch animals.
- Another elephant.
These guys are everywhere, and are largely responsible for the landscape, as they routinely take down trees to feed and/or demonstrate their masculinity. Hence the nickname "African bulldozer."
Chris & Ali@63.27.152.229 (05/23/2001 19:11:18):
What a coincidence! Ali calls me the "New Hampshire Bulldozer" for exactly the same reasons! Loving the pictures! - This is what constitutes a major road inside Djuma. Meaning we can get into third gear.
- You can tell waterbuck from kudu because the waterbuck have straighter horns, smaller ears, and look like they've sat on a white-painted toilet seat.
