- This geyser remains true to schedule
- We were full of faith this afternoon
- Old Faithful
It was cool and everything, but as the little boy next to us said "Was that it?" It was no cooler than any other geyser we saw - dsc_5989.jpg
- "All you raindrops to the left, off to the Pacific with you... the rest of you, head for the Atlantic."
- our guide Zack was pretty fond of the duck, and was happy to pose in a picture with him
- "My very own lake?? Sweet!"
- this pool may look relaxing and inviting, but it's about 180 degrees in there.
- these pools are very very deep.
- these trees are called "bobby socks" for the layers of mineral that have formed over their trunks
- Bear tracks in the cement
- those are real bear prints. I guess bears don't care if the concrete's just been poured.
- larkspur
- silty mud around the spring built up on everyone's boots causing us to carry around a couple extra pounds on our feet
- we hike through a snowstorm and by the time we got to these hot springs, the sky was blue and lovely. a strange day.
- you can see the layers of silica that have formed over the years
until finally this pebble was big enough to be ejected from its (small) geyser
