- When in Rome...
or England, as the case may be...NOT enjoys a Murphy's Irish Stout close to the source.
The 4:55PM Train Group@206.157.176.252 (05/28/2001 17:25:21):
Is NOT really old enough to be partaking of such beverages? - Jackals may look like friendly dogs, but you wouldn't pet them a second time with your remaining hand.
- Hyenas
Hyena tongues are like very sharp cheese graters--that's how they get the bones so clean. In the back, a black-backed jackal waits patiently (or impatiently...who can tell) - Vultures wait for their turn at the carcass
- Water lizard. Right on the dam near Vuyatela.
- NOT Duck tries his hand at being a spotter.
Wen@207.18.199.140 (05/25/2001 14:04:25):
Ahhh..I was wondering when Not was going to sneak into a pic!!! I imagine he's a good spotter!! - Our trusty steed for the past week.
Our ranger can take this Land Rover anywhere.
JJ@168.29.218.244 (05/25/2001 12:22:59):
Well that's an improvement. So often they can't take you guys *anywhere* :)
Uncle Richard@152.163.213.209 (05/25/2001 19:58:49):
wow you guys look cold what is the temperature? - The moon may be a harsh mistress, but it's nice to see you can still dress her up once in a while.
- Yet another elephant
OK, I know this is the third elephant we've posted, but if you were seeing them in person you'd understand. They are truly impressive, awe-inspiring beasts.
James@192.168.0.4 (05/24/2001 23:22:48):
Wow, pictures look great, I cant believe they are real. Everything is well here, enjoy the rest of your trip. - One of several year and a half old cubs we saw this morning.
How could you not love a face like that?
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/24/2001 15:38:03):
So okay, I love it....can I have a kitty, huh, huh???
Wrench@24.128.196.25 (05/25/2001 17:51:44):
looks fuzzy... :-) - Lions in the mist. Not gorillas.
- This leopard walked right under our vehicle. Captured from video.
- Sunset....
"and we walk our days under African skies..."
Susan@207.172.11.148 (05/24/2001 13:17:51):
WOW! You guys are sooo fortunate to be able to take this trip. Is National Geographic looking for photographers? It's a possibility!
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/24/2001 15:39:09):
awe inspiring, just awe insiring.... - I don't know why we pronounce it "zeee-bra."
The British pronunciation of zeb-ra (like "debra") makes much more sense.
Mom@24.240.90.223 (05/24/2001 15:40:32):
but then, the Brits are sooo much more sensible while we just have fun! Doesn't zeeebra have a much better ring to it! - This is what constitutes a major road inside Djuma. Meaning we can get into third gear.
- Another elephant.
These guys are everywhere, and are largely responsible for the landscape, as they routinely take down trees to feed and/or demonstrate their masculinity. Hence the nickname "African bulldozer."
Chris & Ali@63.27.152.229 (05/23/2001 19:11:18):
What a coincidence! Ali calls me the "New Hampshire Bulldozer" for exactly the same reasons! Loving the pictures!
